Friday rolls around and I’ve usually got eighteen tabs open, half of them carts I’ll never check out, plus that nagging sense I let something good slip past me. Not this week. I front-loaded the hunting. What follows is the short list — five gadgets actually marked down in the States right now, no sponsored-banner junk, only listings where the numbers tilt your way for once.
How I filter. Three non-negotiables sit in front of me whenever I bother writing one of these up:
- A real markdown — if that “compare at $999” never once collected $999 from anybody, it’s out.
- Inventory that isn’t dusty. Anything barcode-scanned fresh off a 2022 pallet kind of defeats the purpose.
- Returns that leave room to flinch. Say, at least two weeks, two and a half worth breathing room.
Out of five, two clear my filter completely. One is an honest toss-up. I’ll wave a flag when we reach it.

Remember launch? Six hundred bucks, for the 11-inch version with nothing bolted on inside. Today? Amazon and Best Buy both list $499. On top of that, feed them any tablet-shaped slab — I mean it — and another thirty-ish vanishes from what you owe. The cheap Fires buried in your junk drawer count. Land nearer $469, pretax, and you’re honoring the lowest sticker attached to this model since right around Black Friday.
Should you, though? Own an M1 Air already? Put your wallet amid close drawer and don’t embarrass store security. Hair-splitting, mostly: the delta here is narrow enough to mistake for an optical illusion.
